A BIT O' BOUT CHEREE

I'm a mother of five children, and a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. I've always felt fortunate growing up in a large family. As the oldest I became efficient at getting my younger brothers and sisters to do what I wanted. The large quantity of family gave me hours of entertainment and taught me to mask my introverted nature, so most people think I'm an extravert. I'm not!

I had big plans to go to college because I love to learn.  Going to beauty school was the first on the agenda because I needed to earn money to pay for the many degrees I wanted to accumulate.

However, plans changed when I married young.--at Nineteen--I met a young man studying finance. After two kids, my husband went into law enforcement and I've become a marriage and family mentor for first responders.

I've been a stay at home mother for twenty years, and am currently a wicked substitute teacher and cheer coach for the school my kids attend. This is perfect with the ever changing classrooms. I'm loving learning all the things the kindergarten, middle-school, and high schoolers are up to.

My fantasy world of the muses started when I was a freshman in English class, and the teacher read some of "The Iliad". Then came the muses, goddesses who always seemed in the background, always entertaining and taking care of other gods needs.

But the part about the muses stealing talents from mortals got me. I couldn't understand what I'd done to make the muses so angry that they took all my talents away, because I didn't have a single thing I could do that I hadn't had to work super hard for.

So, I stepped into my imaginary world when I couldn't understand why so many people seem to have it so easy. But, as I've learned, many people are simply great pretenders, or I don't see what they are truly struggling with.

And this is why I try through my writing to convey that it is through our compassion that we can understand people. That we all have circles of influence we can help, but first we have to remain perceptive.
